Weitsu Fan  樊慰慈

A poet by heart; a philosopher in mind; a scientist, sort of, in practice. Being a composer, musicologist and arts critic, I often consider my profession akin to a magician of time. It is quite natural that I’d be fascinated by the art of horology and dedicate myself in collecting precision time-keeping mechanical instruments. But the most intriguing part of this journey is that the mesmerizing beauty of the watches would occasionally make me forget the time. One of the trademarks of any true artist is the stubbornness about individual taste and preferences. Such characteristics reflect perfectly on the way how I collect, i.e. having a clear vision of what I truly love and collect only what I love rather than following the trend. It is not entirely a romantic trait though, as such affections don’t come from caprices but are the realization of a personal taste cultivated through embracing myself in horological history as well as current affairs.
